Kan Zen In Dojo

The word dojo is often translated as ‘the place of the way’. This means nothing else than a place where you practice discipline or art.
Our dojo is named Kan Zen In, which literally means ‘the place where the good is promoted’.

Daniel Brunner Sensei has chosen this name for our dojo. The calligraphy has been made by Shodo Master Pascal Krieger (10th Dan), who is also a great swordsman and longtime friend of Daniel Brunner Sensei.
We feel very honored by and obliged to the name. Our dojo is a place of trust. A place where you can concentrate on Aikido and your personal study of the Art.

There are clear rules in an Aikido dojo. Some of them are well known, as, for example, you should never walk into a dojo with your street shoes.
Others are less well known and have to be learned over time. In the Japanese arts there is the Senpai – Kohai system.
The older student (Senpai) helps the younger student (Kohai) and is responsible for ensuring that latter behaves correctly.

Our Dojo Kan Zen In is a member of Birankai Switzerland and Birankai International.
